Digital Restoration
O.S. ENGINES OS-RE-49-PI-GOLD Wankel
Welcome to a tour through the results of the digital restoration of this second
4.97 cc rotary piston engine in the GOLD EDITION for model aircraft based on the NSU / Wankel system.
The version 'GOLD EDITION' is technically and in terms of performance data identical to the ROTARY OS-RE-49-PI. It was released in 2003 in an edition of 100 units worldwide. A significant difference can be found in the jet holder of the carburettor, which is in an angled version in contrast to the standard version, the carburettor housing bears the type number 4.
This engine was originally sold in an exclusive wooden box, with an accompanying engine stand and a certificate of authenticity signed by Hans Graupner. In contrast to the rendered images, the silencer is (unfortunately) not black but aluminum gray.
Serial number 056 was available for the digital restoration. The corresponding Graupner order number is 1800.GOLD. Further data can be found in the associated blueprints.
The animated video on the right shows the rotation simulation of the three-arched rotor within the two-arched trochoid housing. The data was generated in CAD within the mechanism module and is used to check and simulate the rotation behavior.
